partypoker review: friendly to beginners and good in tournaments, but the cash game traffic is thin
partypoker pairs a 100% match up to $600 with cheap tournaments and low-barrier rakeback. A live PokerScout snapshot still ranks it 14th with about 1,170 players online, so cash game choice is the weak spot.

Best forCasual tournament players who want a gentle bonus and small buy-ins
The honest answer to the question in the title is no. partypoker still treats casual players better than most rooms, with small buy-ins, a bonus that unlocks as you play and rake paid back from the first few dollars. But a friendly welcome does not fill tables, and on the traffic table we checked it sits a long way behind the leaders. If you play poker for fun and mostly in tournaments, it works. If you want a dozen cash game choices at your stake at any hour, it does not.
We loaded the partypoker site and its offers page, read the room's U.S. terms as reported by independent reviewers, and pulled a live traffic snapshot. We did not play a session or cash out, so the payout side of this review is silent on purpose. Poker involves skill, but rake and variance mean most recreational players lose over time. It is entertainment, not income.
The page we captured leads with "Welcome to your FREE Play offer" and underneath it, "Grab a 100% welcome bonus up to $600, plus $30 in tickets!" The headline is a first-deposit match with a ticket sweetener, and as ever the question is how you earn the money out of the bonus balance.
How the bonus pays out
For the U.S. version, in New Jersey, the match is 100% of a first deposit of at least $10, capped at $600. It is not cash. The money is released in ten equal parts over 60 days, and every 4 iRewards points you earn at the tables frees $1 of it (casino play frees $1 per 8 points). Pokerfuse's review also describes a $25 no-deposit gift for verifying your account, of which $10 goes to cash game tables, and says you need only play one raked hand before withdrawing that portion, after making one real deposit.
That structure is friendly to recreational players in one specific way: you do not need to grind a mountain of volume in a hurry. It is unfriendly in another, because a casual player who plays a few hours a month may not release the full $600 inside 60 days.
Rakeback you can reach without grinding
Loyalty runs on iRewards points, two for every $1 of rake or tournament fee paid. The weekly cashback ladder starts low. Ten points, which is $5 of rake, returns 50 cents. A thousand and fifty points returns $80, 5,000 points returns $500, and the weekly ceiling of $3,000 needs 19,500 points. Monthly tiers (Silver at 50 points, Gold at 750, Palladium at 2,000) pay tournament tickets, and Palladium adds a $500 Hot Cash bonus released in $50 slices. Pokerfuse estimates that a player raking $1,500 a month could get back 50% or more of it. Those are reviewer estimates on the New Jersey terms, so check the live promotions page, which changes often.

Tournaments are the real strength
partypoker's identity is tournaments, and the New Jersey schedule shows it. Buy-ins run from $1 to $535, with events starting about every 30 minutes. Typical lines include a $750 guaranteed turbo at $10, a $7,000 guaranteed daily at $25 and a Tuesday $35,000 Big Shots event at $500. Pot Limit Omaha shows up occasionally, but No Limit Hold'em dominates. For a player with a $20 budget, that is a real menu.
The traffic problem, in numbers
PokerScout's live table on 6 November 2026 listed partypoker 14th, with 1,173 players online and 76 at cash tables, against 38,399 online and 2,495 cash at PokerStars and 163,208 online and 10,608 at cash at GGPoker. Its seven-day average of 1,130 shows the figure is not a lucky dip. We would treat the absolute numbers with caution, because the same table puts some small brands at the very top with figures that look inflated. The gap in rank is what matters.

In the United States the picture is different and more helpful. partypoker New Jersey shares its player pool with BetMGM and Borgata, so the liquidity there is that of the combined network. The shared pool is the reason the New Jersey room is more usable than the global numbers suggest, though we did not count seats there.

Who it suits
partypoker is a good second room for tournament players and a fair first room for New Jersey beginners who want a small bonus they can clear gradually. It is a poor main room for cash game specialists because of the field size. Set a loss limit before you sit down, never bet money you need, and use the responsible gambling tools if the game stops being fun.

Our verdict
partypoker is still kind to recreational players: a 100% match up to $600 released as you play, cashback that starts from $5 of rake and tournaments from $1 to $535. But the friendliness does not fix traffic. PokerScout on 6 November 2026 ranked it 14th with 1,173 players online and 76 at cash tables, against 38,399 at PokerStars. A good second room, a weak main room for cash games.
What works
100% first deposit match up to $600, released gradually while you play
Weekly cashback begins at just 10 iRewards points, which is $5 of rake
Tournament buy-ins from $1 up to $535 with events about every 30 minutes
In New Jersey the pool is shared with BetMGM and Borgata, which helps liquidity
What does not
PokerScout ranked it 14th, with 1,173 players online on 6 November 2026
Only 76 cash game players were seated in that snapshot, so choice is limited
Bonus release over 60 days can leave casual players with unreleased bonus money
New Jersey iPhone app averages 4.03 from only 333 U.S. ratings
